MAY 10, 2020

5th Sunday of Easter

“Do not let your hearts be troubled.”

This week, on May 13th, we celebrate one of my favorite Marian feast days: Our Lady of Fatima.

On May 13th, 1917, Mary appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal.  She asked the children to especially pray the rosary.

Perhaps somewhat coincidental to our current world situation, two of the visionaries, Francisco and Jacinta died in 1919 and 1920 from the flu pandemic that began in 1918.

I encourage everyone to get to know the story of Our Lady of Fatima, and following her request pray the rosary daily.

There is a wonderful children’s movie out about Our Lady of Fatima called The Day the Sun Danced.  We have a copy of this movie that we keep with the traveling statue of Mary, so I encourage your family to bring the statue home for a week and have a family movie night!

I’m also very excited to announce that another movie, called Fatima, will be released on August 14th, 2020.  It looks very good, and I can’t wait to see it.

You are in my daily prayers.
God bless you,
Fr. VanDenBroeke
