Second Sunday of Easter

Divine Mercy Sunday

Jesus is Risen!  Alleluia!

 As we conclude the Octave of Easter (8 days of celebration), I’d like to share a couple more images of the Risen Christ appearing to his Mother, Mary.  In both of these images, Jesus stands holding a banner representing his victory over death.

The first is by Guercino, and was painted in 1629.

The second image is by Daniele Monteleone, and was painted in 1600.  Next to Jesus and Mary we also see the Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Catherine of Sienna.
