Pentecost

This week’s Marian images have the theme of today’s Feast: Pentecost.

The first image is by Jean II Restout and was painted in 1732.

The second image is by Juan Bautista Mayno and was painted between 1615 and 1620.

Acts 1:14 tells us “[All the apostles] with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus.”  These beautiful images show the apostles gathered in prayer around Mary as the Holy descends upon them on the day of Pentecost.
